The collaboration between Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and Irish higher education institutions continues to provide high-achieving Malaysian students with pathways to professional excellence. A recent ceremony marked the official handover of 14 outstanding students from Kolej Profesional MARA (KPM) Ayer Molek, Melaka, to Griffith College Cork, Ireland, under the MARA Young Talent Programme (YTP).

Academic Excellence at KPM Ayer Molek

The selected students demonstrated exceptional academic performance during their initial studies in Malaysia. They successfully completed the Foundation in Accounting (AFIA) qualification at KPM Ayer Molek, with each student achieving an impressive score of 85% and above. This high level of attainment qualified them for sponsorship to pursue ACCA Stage II and III at Griffith College Cork.

This achievement underscores the quality of the accounting programmes at KPM and the dedication of the students to meeting the stringent requirements of the MARA Young Talent Programme.

Transition to Griffith College Cork

Griffith College Cork is a renowned destination for professional accountancy studies, offering a supportive environment for international students. The transition process included a formal handover ceremony and a Greet and Meet session, allowing the new intake to connect with senior MARA ACCA students currently residing in Ireland.

These interactions are vital for the following reasons:

  • Peer Mentorship: New students gain practical advice on navigating life in Ireland from those already integrated into the system.
  • Cultural Adaptation: Early exposure to the local student community helps in reducing the challenges of moving to a new country.
  • Professional Networking: Students begin building connections within the global accounting fraternity early in their careers.

The Impact of the MARA Young Talent Programme (YTP)

The MARA YTP is a strategic initiative designed to produce competitive and highly skilled Malaysian professionals. By funding studies in Ireland, MARA ensures that students are exposed to international financial standards and global business practices. This is particularly relevant for the ACCA qualification, which is highly regarded by employers in Malaysia and worldwide.

Support and Guidance for International Success

Organisations such as EDUMi and Agra Edu play a supportive role in facilitating these international transitions. Ensuring that students are well-prepared for the logistical and academic demands of studying in Ireland is essential for maintaining the high success rates associated with MARA-sponsored students.

As these 14 students embark on their journey, they represent the excellence of the Malaysian education system. Their progress in Ireland will be closely monitored, and they are expected to return with advanced skills that will contribute to Malaysia?s economic development in the financial sector.
