Departure to Ireland

09 September 2025 marks an important milestone for Malaysian students pursuing international higher education. A total of 21 students, supported by EDUMi.my and Agra Edu Sdn Bhd, have departed for the Republic of Ireland to continue their studies in accounting and finance-related programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.

This departure reflects ongoing efforts to expand structured, reputable, and internationally aligned education pathways for Malaysian students, particularly in professionally recognised qualifications with strong global relevance. The cohort?s transition highlights a long-term approach to academic development and professional readiness, ensuring students are guided toward qualifications that support employability and career mobility within the global financial sector.

EDUMi.my and Agra Edu Sdn Bhd play an active role in preparing students academically, administratively, and personally for overseas study. This comprehensive support includes guidance on programme progression, documentation, and successful transition into international higher education environments.

Academic Pathways and Student Profile

The current cohort consists of students pursuing diverse routes to professional qualification, including the prestigious ACCA qualification and specialized degree programmes. The breakdown of the 21 students travelling to Ireland is as follows:

  • Sponsorship Status: 14 students are sponsored by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), while 7 students are self-funded.
  • Professional Accounting (ACCA): 20 students are continuing under ACCA Stage II, while 1 student is pursuing ACCA Stage III.
  • Undergraduate Studies: 6 students are enrolled in Bachelor of Accounting and Finance programmes at partner institutions.

These academic pathways provide a strong foundation in accounting and finance, strictly aligned with international professional standards and global industry expectations.

Importance of Family Support in Overseas Education

Family involvement continues to play a vital role in student wellbeing and adjustment abroad. In a notable display of support, one family of five accompanied their son to Ireland, highlighting the value of emotional and practical encouragement during the transition to a new cultural environment.

Such involvement contributes significantly to a student?s confidence and stability, particularly during the early stages of international education. EDUMi.my recognises that a strong support system at home is a key factor in ensuring a rewarding and productive study abroad experience.

Dedicated Support Team for Student Welfare and Logistics

To ensure a smooth and well-coordinated departure, a dedicated team was on-site to oversee student welfare and logistical arrangements. The ground support team included:

  • Escorts: Maj. Hj. Mahadi Hj. Shukor (Retired) and Hajjah Juliana Dato? Zainal.
  • Ground Support Leadership: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Jaafar (Lead Ground Support) and Dr. Nuraishani Baharom (Assistant Lead).
  • Operational Support: Eilliyah Fong, Iqbal, and Shafiq.

Their involvement ensured effective coordination, safety, and operational efficiency throughout the departure process at the airport, providing peace of mind to both students and parents.

EDUMi.my, a spin-off company of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) with Malaysia Digital (MD) status, remains committed to widening access to international education opportunities. The organisation focuses on accounting and finance pathways that offer global recognition, such as those in Ireland and the United Kingdom.
